Hello World!

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 24, 2011, 11:10 AM
Life and a Meme

Work eats me alive, but next saturday is my favorite ball again and we will attend it with two wonderful friends and unbelievably pretty new dresses, so it will be TEH AWSOMENESS! Apparently I'm looking forward to it very much, but beforehand... 3 days of work and one day of school. But I'll live through it... I'll live.

At the moment I don't feel very well physically, but I try to get totally better and totally fit again at the moment. Christmas was superspecialawsome but it also made me fat and I'm SOOOOOO depressive .... daaaamn I'm not allowed to live >___> I need to lose at least 10 pounds.

We decided to attend the LBM in Leipzig this year, which is cool. And we will wear out Togainu no Chi costumes there and one (totally random) new costume (from a totally NOT NEW anime we recently watched) A lot of you may know this show, but I don't want to tell yet what it will be. BUT IT WILL BE SO MUCH FUN (and a really cute couple :) )

Our Togainu no Chi group will be totally awsome btw, because we'll have Kiriwar and Keisuke and it will rock :D (And I will get mobbed.... I KNOW it >__>' )

Okey so... after reading all of my bleh, have a meme I saw at NanjoKoji's and just wanted to fill out. In an elitist way of course, because I'm such an elitist cosplayer >D

_________________________________________

-What was your first cosplay?
Sailor Moon (for a carnival's party XD I was around 11 years old or something XD)

-Did someone get you into cosplay? Or on your own?
Just me.

-What is your favourite cosplay?
That's difficult, I'd say it's a draw between Akira, Masaomi and Ruki :D I love those kind of characters and I had the most fun with them, but I love ALL of my cosplays, because I always give my best and only do characters I simply love.

-Which is your least favourite?
It's Cloud, because I didn't feel very good wearing it. But it was cool... for the moment.

-At conventions, do people compliment you on your cosplays?
Sure thing. But it depends on the size of the fandom how often it happens :)

-How many have you done?
I'm too lazy to count now, but it should be somewhere around 60.

-What are the top 5 on your list of "Want to Cosplay"?
My secret chracter I planned :D; Kyle (from our own series); Masaomi (in a special outfit); Maya (from occult academy); Another version of my secret character :D

-What female cosplay do you want to do most?
It's all about Maya and Haruhi. (I only like bossy females :D )

-What male cosplay do you want to do most?
Kyle! Because he's such a cutie and I love him.

-Your most memorable experience? What makes it so memorable?
Oh there were a lot of memorable experiences, especially back when I cosplayed Kingdom Hearts. Everything was memorable those times. But one thing was really cool when I wore my orange jumpsuit Garnet for the first time, and I was really unsure about my body. But people complimented me (at the toilets when I was waiting for Zidane lol) and it was very nice and cute.

-Your most recent cosplay?
Akira (Togainu no Chi)

-What do you prefer? Cosplaying in a group or on your own?
I prefer cosplaying in a pair with my girlfriend. It always feels the best and is the most fun. Having a nice group additionally is also quite nice, but sometimes really stressful. Having groups of 4 is mostly the best number.
....................................................................................

1. What was your primary reason for wanting to cosplay.
I'm a roleplayer and I wanted to live the characters. Plus I like sewing.

2. When cosplaying what do you feel is most important? (ex. Detail , character portrayal, ect.)
For me the most important about the person is the face. It has to fit the character and the mimic. Second is the feeling the person gives and if it fits the character. Third is a detailed and nicely sewn costume made with love. Oh and the wig/hair. If the wig/hair is shit everything is.

3. Do you have someone who inspires you to cosplay? If so who?
I'm inspired by myself, my girlfriend, roleplaying and the characters ^.-

4. Everyone has a pet peeve when it comes to cosplay. What is yours?
I hate superficial photographers and cosplayers who think that a nice body is everything about a cosplay.

5. Do you prefer to buy or make your cosplays?
I prefer to make them.

6. When deciding on how you want your cosplay to look , what goes through your mind. (ex. Does the fabric/material have to look like the picture)
Would I fit the character? Would it be fun to pose and act as him? How would the character look in 3D and what would his clothes and hair look like in real life? What type of guy/girl would it be in real life and can I impersonate him well?

7. What type of characters do you enjoy cosplaying.
When it comes to male it's the side or main character type who is full of problems and has a dark past and is kind of aggressive and/our cool. And he mostly is 'emo' but would do everything for his love/friends. Also mostly he's stylish and dresses in a fashionable or nice way. And he has wild hair and blue or darkbrown eyes.
When it comes to females, it's the tsundere type. It's always... the tsundere type. (Sometimes it's the 'nice but sad girl from the neighbourhood' but only rarely)

8. How do you choose the characters you cosplay as?
I watch a show and I am amazed by them or inspired.

9. Are there any cosplays that you wish you could pull off?
I wish I could pull off Death the Kid, but with a more feminine figure it just looks like shit ^^"

10. Do you have any cosplays that you will never do. Why?
Lightning from FF13. I like her and my face looks a bit similar to hers, but it's just not my type of outfit and I don't like it that so many people already did her ^^"

11. Do you believe that a person has to have certain qualities to pull off a cosplay? (ex. Facial structure ....ect.)
Yes, they should be able to LIVE the character.

12. What are some of your dream cosplays?
At the moment I don't have any. But I'd like to do some superspecialawsome Disney cosplay somewhen >D

13. Why do you want to be these characters?
If there'd be any, then because I like them and I can identify with them. I see them and I think "That's soooooo me".

14. What is your primary reason for cosplaying?
I love roleplaying and I love creating things. It's exciting to see photos of myself from so many different characters and I'm always curious about which looks I can pull off well.

15. Do you have any tips to give people about cosplaying?
Don't be delusional, you don't have to look like a model to do a good cosplay, but you have to put your heart in it and the clothing style should fit you and your body type. If it's not "you" in one way or another, you're just a person in costume, like a clown in a circus.

Thanks for your interest! See ya next time!

Togainu no Chi *cough*

Journal Entry: Tue Oct 12, 2010, 3:42 AM
Togainu no Chi Flash

Do you know one thing which is typical for autumn? Every year around September/October there comes a new flash. Yep and this time, as you very well can see it's Togainu no Chi. We're really late you may think, but just with the start of the anime we looked deeper into the series and it's really cool.

I needed a new boys-love series which is not tasteless or has a completely weird animation style and there TnC is the right choice. I really like the character's design and the little plot they have going on and that it's not just about... fucking only. (Although a little bit more couldn't be bad, but we have doujinshi for that :D ) At the moment I most favorite the manga (which is not the one from [ZERO] but the other one).

To make things short, I'm in love with little Akira and his blue eyes... which remind me of my own eyes... and yeah, I seriously think about cosplaying as him. I like the jacket he's wearing and it has a good pattern for hiding my more female body structure. Also I've never really cosplayed as a silver-haired character and I want a piece of the fun too. And I don't even need contacts! It couldn't get better... except for the fact that my beautiful and sadistic girlfriend kayleighloire would be cosplaying as...

yeah my dear friends.

GUESS.

(Oh I know it's bloody obvious :D )

We think about scheduling the costumes for around November and for Shootings only for the time being, as we won't visit any convention until next year's Animuc which is in .-.. April or May I believe? Something like that.

Have nice fun and look forward to moar Natsuno and Toru and ... hopefully some Togainu no Chi. Hrrrr... TnC....
XDDD

And I need to get my journal css fixed... it looks horrible in IE 8 >__<'

Internetiquette and private life's update

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 6, 2010, 5:26 AM
How to (not) behave online

It's one of these days where I'm home earlier from vocational school and get a little bit of time to think about stuff happening around me and maybe just write my thoughts about it. So... recently, not really recently to be honest, I came across the fact, that people in online communities seem to forget how to socially adjust to the world and how to interact with people around them. Nobody seems to know what morals or etiquette is and it makes me rage. I mean, stating one's opinion is a really good thing, many people these days don't even HAVE an own opinion. However, there should be limits. Just because you don't have to see the person's face doesn't mean you're allowed to be unnecessarily rude.

Let's be honest, the Internet is full of shit, hell the whole world can be a big pile of shit, ugly people and idiots and I won't say that it is not true.

But only an antisocial asshole without any common sense or education would just step up to a completely foreign person and tell them "Hey, you are so ugly you should't be wearing that outfit." or "Hey, you're so fat it would get days to get your video uploaded on youtube." or "Your face looks like a horse." etc etc.. bleh.

It does not have to be something that extreme, but even while being in a community of sorts with people we DO know (maybe not that good or personally) we're not going around telling people not-really-nice things, just because we think that stating our opinion, whatever-it-is,
is such a good idea. Some people may think it's a kind of criticism and that makes it ok, but it's NOT.

Example is a cosplay video I uploaded on youtube and from time to time there are comments along the lines of "that person is too fat to cosplay as xyz". Best is "I don't want to be rude, but..." at the beginning of such sentences. You fucking ARE rude and it IS an offense towards the person you're critisizing, because a normal person is not an artwork or a 'thing' that can be updated and bettered out.

If you THINK that people are too ugly or too fat for your own view of life, then talk about it with your friends or family or something, but don't make everything fucking public. Before writing a comment, and that's not just about the outer appearance of someone only, which has nothing to do with critisizing a person's WORK, then think about it first.

Would you tell it to the person's face in real life?

If not, you should STHU and GTFO.

Sorry for bad language, it just sounds along the lines of the point I want to get through. Don't feel addressed personally, but just take a few seconds before writing something in the internet and think about it. Are you unnecessarily rude? Is your opinion so important that it's right to hurt other people's feelings? What gives you the right to decide that? I'm just saying.

Private life and TwilightFire

At the moment I'm really busy and working a lot, but the company I work for is really cool and all of the people are so nice and funny. And I learn a lot about Microsoft and Webdevelopement tools and stuff.

Anyway, I don't have much time. From the money I got for ma birthday I ordered a new notebook because my old one is really... old and not fast enough for the stuff I'm doing anymore (even though it's still a nice one and I won't give it away :) ) It hasn't arrived yet but it should tomorrow or on friday and I am sooo looking forward to it ^_____^

Also upcoming saturday there is a little Oktoberfest in my town and we sewed ourselves a sexy dirndl. Damn, I never had a dirndl but I love the look of it. They're so chic and fit my bodyshape really well. It will be a lot of fun wearing our dirndls and we will take a few nice pictures before the feast so be sure to check out our upcoming uploads next weekend *laughs*

Sometimes it's just so good to be a woman :D

Also, I'm looking forward to Togaino ni Chi which starts end of the week and to Shiki which hopefully finally goes on next thursday after a neverending 3 week hiatus.

And last but not least, I started updating the missing costumes from 2009 and 2010, so the Fullmetal Alchemist 2009 section (with me as Edward and Kay as Roy) is finally uploaded to our homepage www.twilightfire.de take a look if you want to see everything at one place, especially a few pictures we didn't upload to DA ^.-

As for the rest of the week, have fun and thanks for reading my journal! Bye~

New Cosplayplans - Shiki

Journal Entry: Mon Aug 16, 2010, 3:21 AM
Shiki

Hello my favorite fellows! First of all - SORRY! I'm so busy these days (yeah again.. or rather STILL)~ I don't even have time to upload new deviations! And you're still writing nice comments and I rarely have the time to answer, forgive me. But I read all of them! They bring a smile to my face every day!

Like always it comes surprisingly and immediate, but Kay and me have a new 'flash'. Yep. And it's all my fault too. I just recently sat at home and was kinda bored and when I rampaged the internet, searching for new stuff to look at I found an anime blog which wrote about a few series from the current season, also Shiki. Without telling a lot of the story, the author just said something along the lines of "I'm watching it. Just because. The artwork is amazing and it's fascinating" And as the type of person who is always interested in shows that are 'different' from the usual, also the more psychic or horrific genre, I watched the first few episodes that were out that day. And I fell completely in love. The artwork is weird at first, but amazing the moment you get used to it. The soundtrack is creepy but beautiful and I really like the characters. The story is deep and interesting and at the beginning you don't really know what's going on (if you weren't spoiled that means, I wasn't).

What I like most about the series is the realistic touch of everydaylife it gets even though supernatural things seem to be going on. The clothes and detail of the characters are amazing. Especially in the manga, the outfits are so detailed, it's wonderful to look at it.

Also, I immediately found my favorite character of the show haha. It's (oh yeah, guess, lol) Natsuno~ He even has Roxas' japanese voice actor, which I found kinda funny. I really like listening to his voice. Also - Toru-chan. Natsuno's best friend and kinda... his only real good friend, because Natsuno is such a loner XD But they're so cute together. And no I'm not forcing my fangirl views on them, they really are close and in my eyes there's more slash material then with Izaya and Shizuo in Durarara!! XD Because it's rather subtle, and more sensual. Oh yeah, the shonen-ai fangirl in me is talking again. So sorry. I can't help it with these two. Really.

So ... it was expensive and it will get even more expensive I guess, but we're gonna cosplay as them at Connichi. It will be a lot of work, concerning the fact I start working in september and need to get most of it finished by the end of this month, but it'll be worth it. Because we weouldn't be happy if we were not to cosplay as them soon enough xD We love them so much.

I think the hairstyles are interesting and I'm looking forward to styling my wig. Also, I never has purple hair before! And purple eyes! It's gonna be cool *-*
Also... Natsuno's outfit (the one I want to do) is this kind of... "weird and kind of ugly but at the second glance kind of random but cool" - outfit. Yeah. I'll show you a few artworks of it (as in the anime they don't wear those clothes (yet?)). The details differ from picture to picture, but I'll try to stick to one of the pics and make them the way I like it the most. Yeah... here some some pictures (the blond cutie is Toru-chan and Kay will cosplay as him :D He's such a sunshine~)

Chibis :)

AnimagiC report and Connichi plans

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 3, 2010, 2:17 AM
AnimagiC 2010

It's over now and it was exhausting. I met a lot of awsome people, but mostly time was over too fast. Friday morning we started our journey to Kay's parents' house and when we arrived we changed into Masaomi and Saki. Damn, I nearly died everytime I looked at my purtyful girlfriend, that's how cute she looked as Saki. Really, she's so perfect and pretty >___< I almost couldn'T get over it. Maaah~!

When we arrived there we immediately met Des-Henkers-Braut and had a little shooting. I'm still excitingly waiting for the pictures she took of us, because she's so great and also because it was the only real shooting we had as those two. Because we just didn't come to meeting the other photographers. It was... so full and everyone was always so busy at the con!

In the afternoon we had the first colorless meeting and it was really funny. Although it was really hot in the sun and therefor very exhausting.

On saturday we wore Haruhi and Yuki in white & black sommer versions. Sadly I lost my sunflower and don't have a single picture of the costume where I still had it.

We had to arrive at the con very early because of the final rehearsal of TnS. (For all of you who don't know, we're part of them as backstage helpers and technicians and stuff) Not long afterwards the first show (Eternal Sonata) took place and it was beautiful as ever and went smoothly.

Then we hang around a bit and I was in a bad mood because I lost a piece of my front teeth in the morning and my sunflower and I felt uncomfortable in general. At least my real hair looks really good for Haruhi. We had a little shooting with Franky together with Tsuruya (Kamikyo) but I dunno when I get the pictures.

In the afternoon it was time for the premier of Crisis Core! It went really good and all the actors did such a great job. Also some people of my former showgroup told me I did a great job with the videoediting and I was very happy about it. The hall was full full FULL.

Later then Kay tried to take a few pictures of me, but damn, I was in such a bad and picky mood, I don't think I'll upload more than one or two of them. I don't feel very beautiful.
In the early evening we had the 2nd colorless meeting and half an hour after the meeting started we had our little flashmob. It was totally funny!! Although we weren't that many people. Sadly .___. but we laughed a lot.

Sunday we wore Masaomi and Saki again, but my wig looked shitty. I need to wash it everytime I wore it but at the con weekend it wasn't possible to do that. So I looked... kind of weird in my eyes.

First thing we watched the premier of Ikimasho's new show which is a continuation to their first show (where we still took part). It was really funny at times :D

In the afternoon we talked to a lot of people and just ran around kind of aimlessly. Afterwards we drove home which was kind of exhausting because the motor-ways were kind of packed with cars. It took us much longer to come home then normally.

All in all the convention was nice but lame and also full and kind of chaotic. I never came to meet most people twice. It was just not possible. Some people I never really met, except for 5 seconds or something. Also I didn't feel very well with my costumes this time (except for friday) because I slowly start to look too 'womanly' for some things. It's barely possible to look 'girly' for me atm and I hate it. But that's another topic.

My personal conclusion for AnimagiC: If I go there next time, I do it only when we have a hotel in Bonn. It would be less exhausting and we could also go into town in the evening and have fun without driving 'home' early because of being too tired to drive later.

Anyway, have a random picture of ma homies xD

Connichi Plans

Everyone who is a fan of my Edward costume and of FMA Brotherhood in general can now look officially forward to Connichi saturday (or pictures of it) becau~se:

I will have a cute little Winry then (which will be Kay kayleighloire) a~aaaaand a big 'little' armor-brother Alphonse which will be (DarkRilux Kiki)! Go and watch her deviantartaccount for awsome previews of her armor making process which started last week!

Alphonse Elric Armor Step2 by DarkRilux

I'm positive that it'll turn out really great ^_____________^ I can't wait for cosplaying FMA Brotherhood again, I miss it a lot! Also, since I updated a few pieces of my costume I never wore it to a big convention again.

Connichi Friday I won't be there this year because I have to work.

Connichi sunday will most certainly be a superspecialawsome secret project. It will be something we all know crossed with something we also all know crossed with some original design and it will be sparkly and chic. I'm looking forward to go fabricshopping for it this week. XD

Private Life

I'm happy to be able to announce that Kay and me will have a short holyday of 4 days next weekend. We'll drive to the sea, sleep at my family's holyday home for free and go shopping in Bremerhaven 'n stuff. Afterwards I'll be busy sewing, because in september my new apprenticeship as IT specialist begins and I won't have time for much other stuff anymore.

Thanks for reading my totally interesting journal again today~!

AnimagiC

Journal Entry: Mon Jul 26, 2010, 8:07 AM
AnimagiC

Ah, I'm so lazy and busy these days. So now is time for a new journal entry stating what I am doing at the moment. During the last two weeks I worked on the background stage videos for Tsuki no senshi's upcoming 'Crisis Core' Show at AnimagiC! It will be great for sure, so please everyone who's coming check it out! I'm looking forward to the finished project myself a lot.

Concerning cosplay we didn't have much money nor much time this month. We didn't even have any flashes so don't expect anything superspecialawsomenew from us. In fact we are going to be chilling and only wear simple and comfortable costumes. It will be nice for a change and I am looking forward it a lot!

On friday I will finally wear my Episode 18 Masaomi outfit for a convention. I love it, it looks so good and it's so comfy. I'm proud of my sewing even though it's simple. I like simple things the best. But the very best thing is that my beautiful girlfriend will be my Saki. She already has her hairstyle now and it looks SO CUTE. I want to put her in my bag and take her home :D If it wasn't for that fact that she already lives here.

On saturday it's not completely sure yet what kind of outfit we will wear. We'll be busy backstage anyway. It will be Masaomi and Saki with another comfy outfit. Maybe something from the novels or, depending on the weather, something which is not so warm.

On sunday we will wear Haruhi and Yuki with summer dresses (from random artbook versions). I will wear the white dress with the sunflower accessoires and the big white hat and I'm looking forward to it. Also I'll use my real hair this time because it has a nice length for it now.

That's all. I'm happy that it won't be that hot anymore at the weekend and I'm looking forward to meet the other colorless guys and also spend a lot of time chillin' with ma friends and taking funny photos. And of course being all cuddly with my cute little Saki-chan and have sweet 'dates' with her. Hrhr.

So guys, anyone wants to meet me at AnimagiC? Feel free to do so or visit one of the colorless meetings (they are everyday :D ) It's always really funny to hang out with those guys.

Have a nice week~
I need to get healthy because I'm a little bit sick at the moment. I hope it will be gone by this week.

So long~ and thanks for your support!

New Journal Layout :)

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 6, 2010, 6:10 AM
Worship my new Layout

Soooo... I had the urge to make a new journallayout this morning. I wanted to beat the CSS and to write my CSS completely new. I beat the CSS... kind of. Now it will be even more easy to change my layout in the future when I feel like it. So this time... it's a bit yellow and stuff :D This is not without a reason as everyone knows I'm on a Kida Masaomi flash right now. Yeah, I love him lol...~
I got inspired to make a new layout and kick my lazy ass by :iconabessinier: because some time ago she made her own layout and it looked so cool that I came to hate my own old one XD ... yeah it's stupid but that's how it works.

This is not finished completely yet as I want to add some stuff like stamps and such, but I want to test out how it looks on my frontpage ^___^ so enjoy the yellow crazyness :D

WaWaWaWa³!!!

Long time since I last updated oh my. Sorry guys, I'm so busy! I'm working on my future atm so it's way more important than everything. But we also took the time for our latest cosplay project~ I'm shamelessly promoting it for everyone who didn't see it yet >___<!!! Because it was so much work and I really like the outcome. I've always had the opinion, that motion pictures say a lot more than photos in general. Even or rather especially without words.

So please take a look at THE VIDEO :D Especially if you know and like Durarara ^.-

Durarara - Cosplay Music Video by Majin-sama
---------> www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_ZRou… <----------

On another note, I'm madly in love with Masaomi at the moment. It's like... my second Roxas or Edward Elric. It's just THE character I love cosplaying and acting as so so so so soooo much :) (And it's always blond guys lol) So please bear with me for a while.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming weekend!!! Today I'm gonna go shopping for a new Masaomi outfit (yeah it's too hot to sew everything these days) and it's gotta be chillin'. Saturday is our firsit big Colorless/Durarara/Dollars - Meeting and it will be sooooo much fun and feeling like holydays ^________________^ I can't wait.

And somewhen in the future my girlfriend will cosplay Saki for me. Yes, Saki-chan is so cute and as much as I love Mikado x Kida, I love Kida x Saki for the cuteness. Kay will be the most beautiful Saki-chan on earth, because... she is the most beautiful girl anyway. I'm so lucky ^______^

Next I need cool weather and then I just NEED to do a Mikado x Kida shooting. FINALLY. Because damn, there's is so much Shizaya around, I can't stand it anymore XD

So ... today I'm gonna go shopping with Kiki :D

And on a last note, I'm really thankful for your wonderful comments on my Masaomi pictures, especially the latest. I have so much stuff somewhere in the back of my head that I want to get done and woah you inspire me to go on and do what I love~ the love shows you say, your love shows as well. And even though I'm too busy these days to properly talk to all and everyone of you wonderful people, please note that I care. THANK YOU!

I'm listening to a german anti-aggression song about being a daisy. Hahahaha... and I'm thinking about making a Shizuo CMV for it. Because it would be hilarious. Actually, I'm already planning it.

Soooo... I'm alive. I've been busy sewing during the last week and my bartender outfit is finished at least. Yeah! Now I need money and materials for my street sign of choice for Animuc.

Anyway, I didn't finish everything I wanted to, because I'm unsatisfied with our fabrics. It's a really big dilemma. We (Kay and me) seem to see different shades of blue and we bought too many wrong fabrics and are now out of money for the perfect new one. It's depressing actually, we seem to get old.

Have a little stupid shot of me with my Masaomi wig.
Random Masaomi Preview by Majin-sama

Anyone's up to date with the Durarara!! Anime? The last episode (10) is fucking kickass and I'm seriously even more looking forward to the 2nd half of the whole storyline... because... omg... Masaomi >-< *fangirl* I hope everything I hope for will make it into the anime. It'd be too epic.

All around I'm really sick of the cold weather. Seems like another 3 - 4 weeks waiting for sunshine and warmth. Eventually 1,5 months even. Damnit!

ROAR OUT LOUDER!

You've seen it coming, didn't you? XD It's time to cosplay Durarara!! Showing the yaoifags how it's done right. Sorry, bacon lettuce is officially mine now >D
As you may have realized by now I'm doing Heiwajima Shizuo. I'm not big enough for it, though, but relatively to my darling Kay who's doing Izaya it's quite fitting. First time cosplay where I can actually be legally bigger than her *laughs*

We'll do several versions of them, including the anime version and the often upcoming past Raira gakuen version before the two schools fused together to Raira Academy. In fanarts they all wear the black uniform and I like it a lot. Black suits Shizuo so much.

Also I plan on doing Masaomi-kun. Because I love him so much and I love his backstory a lot. My darling will be my Mikado~bestest friend and it will be really really funny to cosplay as them!

So... let's kick some trashcans and vending machines!

Cheers~

Oh tmr we'll gonna have VIP tickets for a soccer game in our town. I'm looking forward, it will be against munich hrrrrrrr let's kick some ass! Some serious ass òó!!

Fandom Time!

Yo!

Long time no see my friends! I'm really really busy these days and have a lot of stuff on my mind, so please excuse my absence. At the moment it's carnival season here and I've been out partying a lot which did me good. Tomorrow my mom has her 41st birthday and I'm gonna be out helping her with the preparations for the evening. Bleh, I'm sure I'm not telling you anything interesting right here.

Anyway, I'm on a major Durarara!! Flash right now. It eats me whole. Joking. I love this series even though when it started I didn't quite understand the whole concept of the anime. But then I read the manga and now it's just an exquisite piece of art. I love it. I researched everything there is about it (that is not japanese ^^") and I'm totally addicted XD

I can't wait for the upcoming episode!

Do you know what characters I'm into the most? Guess XD

Next to a precious own character of mine I think Durarara!! cosplay will be on my list and at least one important promised GazettE costume for a very special and important event in June this year.

I hope everything works out fine and everyone has a wonderful time! Have a nice week my dears,

Cheers!

The Story Next Door - an article about us

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 19, 2010, 1:04 PM
 • Listening to: the GazettE
 • Watching: Zuhause im Glück
 • Drinking: coke

The Story Next Door

Our friend Stephany that I know from university studies english and history. She had a seminar about journalistic writing stuff... dunno the details. The topic was about not-so-usual people next door and their life stories. So she asked us if she could write a short article about us. I will post it below. I'll also post the photos she used for the article.

But Before that: The 100 RAQs from my last journal entry!! 100 questions are finished!! I'm posting the long long interview like article tonight XD

On to the article!

But don't be mean, she doesn't know much about the whole japanese culture thing so she tends to use the wrong words from time to time or doesn't explain everything exactly right. Also the article is written for university where the people mostly don't know ANYTHING about it at all, hence the many descriptions.

The Story Next Door, by Stephany Hegemann

‘Our life isn’t that interesting,’ says Majin. She sits on the beige sofa next to her fiancé Kayleigh. They don’t know what to do or what to expect from an interview about Cosplay and how they came to be a part in this subculture.
‘Just tell me how everything started. How and about when you started to cosplay and how you two met? We’ll go from there if I have any more questions,’ I try to encourage them.
The sitting room around us practically screams out about the part of their life I ask them about.
On the wall behind the sofa are three key-swords and two chakram. The latter being the fiercer and more intimidating looking weapon. They are not real, but they look very real and are made of wood and fibo, which makes them pretty heavy. If they fall on your head you can be sure to have a concussion and maybe even an open wound.
Our livingroom by Majin-sama Throughout the rest of the sitting room are a lot of Japanese motives and picture. Some of them are Majin and Kayleigh cosplaying, one or another character from J-Rock or Animes or Mangas or even videogames. But it’s not cluttered and overstuffed; it’s rather nicely decorated and everything has its place. On the floor are some scraps of different cloths as the next costumes want to be sewed.

Cosplay can be roughly translated to Costume Play. The word ‘cosplay’ has been coined by Nobuyuki Takahashi, from the Japanese studio ‘Studio Hard’. The concept of cosplay is easy: People sew costumes according to outfits of characters from Japanese mangas or animes, from members of J-Rock bands or videogames or movies.
‘Well, I started to cosplay in 2004,’ Majin starts to tell. There was no question between Anime or Manga, because she was a fan of a Japanese Rockband and her first Cosplay was that of a member of this band. She went to the KöVit, in Cologne. A convention only for Visual Kei Cosplayer. And that’s where she saw Kayleigh for the first time in 2005.
Her little sister thought her older sister to be crazy. She was running around in costumes although it was not February and time for carnival. She didn’t understand what her sister was doing and only understood the concept of Cosplay a few years later. But she allows her sister to cosplay as long as she has fun with it.
But, on the other hand, there was Majins grandma who thought the concept of Cosplay to be fascinating. ‘It’s not a normal thing. Nothing a normal person would do. She sticks out of the masses. It’s really very fascinating.’
Kay had started around the same time with cosplaying and her Cosplay was also that of a Japanese Rock Band. And she was also a member of the team that organized the KöVit.

Kayleigh thought Majin to be arrogant and always dressed her down. But over the year they met more often. Both were in a serious relationship at that time, but they talked to each other more and more and started to have an affair.
In 2006 they helped out in a fashion show of a good friend and spent private time together for the first time. At that point the relationship of Majin has already been headed south and they had kissed behind the scenes of the fashion show. But it was more fun than love.

‘I watched her lips and we flirted a lot,’ says Kay. By the next KöVit, a month later, Majin was single again, but not so Kayleigh. They met again and together they went to an amusement park. Majin was getting worked up about the thought that she would never stand a chance to get together with Kayleigh. And her best friend at that time was getting jealous because she thought she was being pushed aside for this other person. But they are still good friends.
Finally after a lot of talking to each other via the internet, they got together 2006.
Again Majins grandmother was delighted. She likes Kayleigh a lot and thinks that everybody should do the things he wants to do and be with whoever he wants to be. Majins sister wasn’t that perturbed either. She has met several of Majin’s friends when they slept over and only later got to know that her sister and Kayleigh were in a relationship.
About half a year after Kayleigh and Majin got together, they went on a holiday in Tokyo, Japan. Kayleigh had booked her flight a bit longer ago and Majins parents surprised her with a ticket to Japan for her successfully passed Abitur and for her birthday. She was thrilled but the surprises didn’t end at that point. Kayleigh also wanted to go to a concert of her favourite band at that time. It was said that the concert was sold out but she managed to get one more ticket and presented this ticket of a J-Rock concert in Tokyo to Majin as a birthday gift.

Together they went on the trip to Tokyo and they were quiet an attraction at the Harajuku bridge in Tokyo.

Minatomirai by Majin-sama Harajuku by Majin-sama

This bridge is a meeting point of sorts. Every Sunday J-Rock cosplayers and Lolitas meet at this bridge and hang out and have fun. The Harajuku bridge is in the styling and visual Punk district of Tokyo. Lolita is a slightly different style than the normal cosplay. It’s more of a Japanese clothing style. The clothes are held in a Victorian style, rather doll-like. It’s very feminine and there are only dresses and no trousers. There are different styles in this style. There is young, elegant, gothic, punk, white, casual and some more.

The first Sunday Majin and Kayleigh were in Tokyo, they weren’t able to go to the bridge because the weather was dreadful. It was raining pretty badly and they didn’t want to ruin their costumes. But the second Sunday, shortly before leaving Japan again, they were able to get to the bridge and enjoy their day with likeminded people. They sat a bit offside to the rest, because they didn’t want to draw to much attention to themselves, but soon some Japanese cosplayer went over to them and told them how cute they looked and they wanted to hang out with them for a bit.

The most interesting part was, when a bunch of tourists came along and instead of taking pictures of the Japanese cosplayer, they took pictures of Majin and Kay. They found it more interesting to have pictures of Europeans who cosplay in Japan than from Japanese who cosplay in Japan.
It was the first time that Majin and Kayleigh spent a long time in each others company. But back in Germany there was a lot that expected them in their future.
Kayleigh unfortunately lost her job but found another one.
Duo Lolita by Majin-sama So far these two had only led a weekend relationship but were ready to take the next step. So, at the end of 2007, they found an apartment that suited them and that they were able to afford and with the help of a lot of friends, who suffered from severe back aches for quite some time, they moved into this apartment. They needed a lot of time to decorate it and to find just the right furniture but the result is astounding.
It shows just how much these two are routed inside the Japanese culture and how much they enjoy being with in each other and just how much they are in love with each other.

RAQ - Randomly asked questions

I worked on a new Journalskin! Please tell me if you like it ^_____^ It is a little bit influenced by our Homepage because ... it's like ... the window from DA to my own world >D Something like that.

Anyway, I wanted to thank all of you who wrote such nice comments and discussed my previous entry with me! I feel a lot better now and see things a little bit differently. So, thank you!

Also, I started a poll two days ago and a lot of people wrote that they want to get to know me better. I'm thinking about adding a questionnaire similar to some of the "100 questions" - things from magazines, to our homepage, but I need your help with it.

Could you think of random questions concerning daily life, cosplay, random things and everything you could think of and you would like to read about us? I'd like them to be ... funny and interesting and not only "How do you make wigs"? XD I'll gather them and post them with the corresponding answers on TwilightFire later. It'd be nice if many of you participated! If there'll be more than 100 questions it'd be ok too, so please post every thing you can think of.

Current Status Quo: 80 questions in the questionnaire. You rock, please post more so we'll get 100 :) We also already started answering them so when we're finished we can post the answers really soon!

Also a good friend of us wrote a little article about us for her english university seminar. If you're interested in reading it, I'd post it next time!

Thanks everyone and have a nice week!

Fandom and Activity - Feedback from people

Fandom and Activity - Feedback from people

I'm really sad these days about my hobby - cosplay.
I'm really working hard for every costume and shooting that I do, trying to be as perfect as possible and convey the feelings I want to convey for each character I do.

But the feedback I get differs so fucking much in between the fandoms. You see, I don't like to do mainstream fandoms - exactly because of this. But I tend to do them anyway sometimes, because I don't care about the fandom's popularity as long as I totally love the character I do. I can't help it.

Anyway, now I'm in a period of non - mainstream cosplaying and it's quite normal that there are less people who know the stuff I do (I try to give reference as often as possible!) and also less people comment on it. In comparison to some of the things I uploaded earlier it's a little ... too less and I also feel kind of offended.

If I put on a Roxas wig and some random clothes without putting much thought or hard work into it people will comment like 500% more than they do for costumes which are not very well-known but were a lot of work and look also much more aesthetic. I don't like this.

If you don't like the majority of my work, then don't watch me in the firstplace. I also don't watch people for one character they did if they also do a lot of other cool things.

If you really like what I do, then don't just comment Kingdom Hearts or FF7. Really, it makes me hate my own fandoms and makes me think people don't look for quality at all. I'm a cosplayer, not a fandom feeder. And even if I do post some yaoi pictures from time to time, then I do it just because I want to in that moment and find them fitting according to my own imagination.

I don't want to feel reduced to porn and mainstream. I'm really sick of it.

Thank you for reading dears.

Edit: I don't want you to take this as an offence, nor a scream for comments, because it isn't meant that way.

Do you have a special picture/motive/fanart/idea/scene you'd like to see photographed? It can be anything involving Edward, Roy, or even Riza ^___^ and also .. Havoc! Edward x Roy photography is obviosuly the one we can do the most because Kay and me live together XD It doesn't have to involve shonen-ai/yaoi themes, but it obviously can.

So... I'd like to hear your ideas! You can describe them... show me a sketch, a fanart, a photo of something similar or a piece of fiction describing a situation. I'd really really like to try out many different things!

Stay tuned~!

Cosplay - ambition - feeling - my opinion

Cosplay - Rant :D

I need to kindly remind myself, when looking at my own actual photos, that cosplaying 2D characters is fairly difficult. There's no way you can look like an anime character in your face no matter how hard you try, because it's simply not possible. And no, asian cosplayers don't look more like 2D figures either, because they look like - yeah - asian people. At least until some of them shop humanity out of their face completely.

While cosplaying a lot of JRock characters - who are actual people and even asian - it was much easier to give off the look they have because they wear a fucking lot of make up!

Make up helps a lot, always. And even if cosplaying characters who never wear makeup you SHOULD wear it nonetheless (the natural kind of course) because nobody has perfect skin and no character has the kind of skin a normal person has. (red parts, pickles and stuff) So even when cosplaying a guy - wear makeup.

I often see cosplayers who don't wear makeup and they look ... yeah ... not really good like that. Cosplay is also about being presentable and often about being photographed. And most people, including me, don't look that good on photos without makeup. I mean... of course not ugly or bad, but when cosplaying we wanna look excellent, don't we?

Back to the faces of anime characters. We can't have them. I need to remind myself, because my Edward cosplay drives me crazy, because cosplaying Garnet spoiled me a lot.

I don't like my face as Edward, I really don't and that's mostly because of the wig, especially the bangs. Nonetheless I love the guy to death and I want to cosplay him more because it's fun. There are also some angles I like my face from with that wig, but they're rare.
I'd like to have a more round face, bigger eyes, a smaller nose... blah! But that's impossible and it wouldn't look good on me anyway *laughs*

And while nobody can look like a 2D figure, we can all try to radiate the feeling they have - using facial expression and body language. For me, that's what cosplay is about anyway, but even me, who's so sure about her hobby, tends to forget that nobody is perfect.

Of course... not every person can pull off any character. For example, there are girls who have a very girly face, which is nice (and sometimes I'm jealous of that ^^) but they wouldn't look boyish when crossplaying. There are other people who have a very neutral face (for example myself) and even girls with a manly face who would look weird when cosplaying as very girly girls. There are characters I'd never pull off well, but I'd never chose those characters anyway, because they don't fit my character.

All in all, cosplaying is about radiating the feeling of the character we love and trying to feel like them to some extent. It's about trying to talk like them from time to time or doing things we would never do as ourselves. It's about trying to be someone else and in the end nobody can tell us if we're feeling the right feeling or not, because it's noone else's business.

While cosplay is to a very delicate point a matter of looks and also a matter of skills, it's mostly a matter of character and charisma and superficiality killed that to some extent these days. Which is sad.

And while I'm not as small as him, nor a boy nor have uber-big golden eyes I'm gonna try my best to just 'be' Edward Elric while cosplaying as him. It's the path I chose, being someone else for a few hours. Nobody in the world could ever tell us what we have to feel when we cosplay as our favorite character! And when person 'xyz' thinks your face doesn't fit his imagination of a 2D character, telling this from a random photo and never having met you in person, doesn't mean that it is the truth.

Feel free to discuss this.

On another note, if you're really really bored, add my on Twitter. Because I write down really really boring stuff there *laughs* (majin_sama)

Confessions!

Long time no see :)

Yeah it's been a long time since I last wrote here. A lot happened, but I'm not in the mood of writing everything down. We had a car accident, lost our car... blah. Also it's been my birthday last week and it was nice.

And as I'm apparently bored out of my mind I start a meme here, it's called "Confessions~!"

So everyone has something not everyone knows about them and they maybe don't want to write it down somewhere. Do it anyway! Because being more open is more fun XD I'll start:

I'm addicted to adrenaline. My life is all about it. Not the "bungee jumping" kind of thing though, it's more sexual. I'm not going into detail right here *laughs* Life is all about sex! And people who don't think similarly just don't have enough of it or never had good sex. Bear with it >D

What's your secret obsession? Tell me~!
